How To Develop An Entrepreneurial Mindset
By Brittany Cherrell
It’s no secret that there is more to becoming a successful entrepreneur than just opening a business account. Becoming the best version of you to be of service to others is a harrowing task, however, the juice is worth the squeeze. Even though I consider myself to be one I always admire a woman going after what she wants, investing in herself, and being confident that she is meant for more. I know from personal experience that all these things are very important however, the most important thing without question is mastering the mind. Your mind is like a rudder on a ship steering you through unknown waters to get you to your destination. If your mind is in the wrong place you will float like a duck or worse end up at the wrong coordinates. Although, this is not the ideal way to reach your goals I have mastered the entrepreneurial mindset so now I can share the secrets with you!
“Be master of mind rather than mastered by mind.”
1.) become aware of your thoughts
This one goes without saying, and the truth is that many of us go through life allowing whichever thoughts come to our mind to stay there.
Becoming aware of what you actually think is a very liberating exercise. Up until this point, you may have believed that you are at the mercy of whatever flows through your mind. Although, you could never review every single thought because you would go insane! However, I am talking about the thoughts that linger and don’t serve you.
On your journey to becoming a female entrepreneur, there will be MANY times where your inner critic chastises you for even wanting to level up. However, you must recognize it and nip it in the bud immediately!
This is how you replace the habit of being on auto-pilot, by becoming aware.
2.) Replace those thoughts with the correct thoughts
Here’s the deal (and one lesson I had to train myself to learn) successful people do not embrace a mindset of lack.
I am a firm believer that you get more of what you focus on. So if you are always viewing things from a place of “not enough.” I can assure you that you will never have “enough.”
Replacing the thoughts that don’t serve you is all about taking a negative thought and deciding what the exact opposite of that thought is and affirming that every time that thought enters your mind.
Some even have a signal or alert that reminds them to repeat the positive thought.
Like every time they hear a bird chirp, get a text chime, etc. Something that can quickly put you back in a state of awareness.
This will allow you to attract the things you DO want instead of more of what you don’t want.
3.) Create an entrepreneurial mindset that embraces failure
Most people run from failure but not those with an entrepreneurial mindset. They realize that failure is the key to success.
So in their quest to become successful their goal is to “fail fast” so they can get to the things that will help them become successful.
Failure, even though frowned upon should be an exciting thing. Because failure is always directing us toward success.
Every time you fail it’s almost like a detour that is taking you another route but getting you to your final destination.
Catch my drift?
So if you are just beginning your quest to become a female entrepreneur get ready for failure, and be encouraged when it shows up at your door.
Because it will.
4.) A mindset that sees risk as opportunity
It never ceases to amaze me. The woman that wants it all, but will not invest in herself.
Don’t let this be YOU!
I’ve seen it time and time again. Dreams of grander, but not willing to buy a course, take a class, or read a book that can help her take her skillset to the next level.
It is very difficult to become a successful entrepreneur if you are always thinking about what your”losing” instead of what you have to “gain“.
Again, this goes back to the lack of mentality.
Here’s how you have to look at things…
Not what it will cost you if you do pay for that course, book, or class, but what will it cost you if you don’t?
Okay, so I know your like mind blown right now…
Really though that little shift in your mindset makes all of the difference.
Taking a monetary risk to learn the skills, and secrets to become an entrepreneur can only help you, and if for some reason you don’t like that particular book you read then you know what “not” to do.
It’s always a WIN!
5.) The entrepreneurial mindset is "all in"
None of this wishy-washy stuff!
Either you’re IN or you’re OUT!
I think Tony Robbins said it best. “You always get your must.“
Either you want it bad enough or you don’t, and I think it’s okay to say “I don’t” if you really don’t.
Listen, there’s no fooling with this stuff. We live in a very powerful universe that knows what it takes to become successful.
It’s your right of passage.
In your attempt to climb the success ladder the universe is always attempting to “weed out the weak.“
Those that quit after a month in, those that let every little pitfall stop them.
These are not the people that get the crown.
It’s the ones that persevere! The ones that do it no matter if they feel like it or not through Hell and high water. These are the ones that enjoy the fruits of their labor.
6.) If it is to be it's up to me
This is all you boo!
It is not, and should not be anyone else’s job to get you the success you desire.
Now, one thing for sure is that on your way to the top you need assistance from others.
You may need someone skilled in a particular area, or someone that can help you manage the day to day aspects of your business. Whatever your personal needs are it is always okay to include others.
The success or failure of your business is on you.
I almost bust out in laughter when I see someone ranting on FB about how they took a course or signed up for a class, and they didn’t get any results!
Entrepreneuership is all about trail and error. What has worked for one may not work for all, and you must be willing to accept that.
It’s never what happens to you, but it’s always what you DO about what happens to you.
This makes the difference.
So you invested in some stuff that didn’t work..the proper mindset says that’s cool so what am I going to do from here?
Do you feel me?
7.) The mindset is focused
“If you try and spread the water over many seeds you won’t have enough water for one seed.” –Tyler Perry
One idea…just start there.
So many times we try to do too much. I have certainly fallen into this trap myself.
One day you’re doing this, then the next day this. You must identify an idea and then put all of your energy into being creative for that one idea.
Being all-in on one thing is better than giving a little energy here in there with a lot of smaller things.
When achieving success you must create momentum, and it is easier to do this when all of your focus and intention is on one thing, and one thing only.
I could go on and on about this one because it truly is key to getting what you desire.
I hope you truly embrace some of the entrepreneurial mindset tips I have given you in this post because it will make all the difference in your journey to success.
I believe in your ability to attract anything you want in this life, now it’s time for you to believe too.
