As the saying goes… “We are what we believe we are.”-C.S.Lewis and mastering your mindset is EVERYTHING when it comes to achieving success.
There’s no doubt that the biggest thing standing in the way of us achieving our goals is that six inches of space in between our ears also known as, our MIND.
For decades our culture has been infatuated with exactly what it means to master the way you look at things. How is it that some see the glass half full and some half-empty?Before we dive any deeper let’s look at the true meaning of the word MINDSET.

Keyword SOMEONE!! Yep, that’s right! Meaning You, I, Myself, Yourself…US!! The GOOD news is since we are the ones doing it, we are also the ones in control of NOT doing it.

Let’s be honest have you ever seen Oprah talking about how she cannot or won’t accomplish anything? (Not just because she’s a billionaire) but she had to have the right mindset to get THERE in the first place!

Self-Awareness AKA Mindfulness is key in mastering the mind.
Up until now if you have NOT been practicing self-awareness you have been on what I like to call mental autopilot.
That means you have been unknowingly allowing thousands and thousands of thoughts to run through your mind every day without taking inventory.
I am here to tell you that No thought should exist in your mind rent-free! In other words, any thought that is NOT benefiting you in any way should begone… POOF!
According to research we have anywhere between 50,000 to 80,000 thoughts that run through our head a DAY.
That’s like the number of raindrops that would fall on you if you were standing outside for FIFTEEN MINUTES!
Self-Awareness is the conscious knowledge of one’s own character, feelings, motives, and desires.
You can practice Self-Awareness by…
- Goal Setting, and Prioritizing
- Keeping a Journal
- Looking at yourself Objectively
- Asking those that care for you for constructive criticism

Believe it or not! Most people cannot stand the thought of SILENCE.
I mean think about it… We have a million things a day competing for our attention.
Phone calls, emails, spouses, kids, media, tv, internet all with a mouth and or a speaker to project some sort of noise.

Associations matter in mastering your mindset!
Those Folks you call “friends” what are their habits? Studies show you are a culmination of the five people you hang around MOST.
Jot down a list of five people you are around the most and reflect on their habits.
Do they Gossip? Are they Negative? Do they have a Lack Mindset? If so its time to make some serious changes!
Now I do understand some of the people we are around daily are not our choices..whether it be co-workers, teachers, etc.
The key is you CHOOSE how far you allow them to go with their antics. Don’t allow others to drain you with their poison. You are responsible for your life, not them.
Now I’m not saying you must be downright RUDE or ask them never to speak to you again.
I am saying be aware of how their habits affect you, and when they start with that BS some things that will conclude the conversations are..
- Limited eye contact
- Turn your body away
- Being quiet
- Smile and let them know you have a lot to do today

Manage Your Emotions and Control Your Mind!
I KNOW! This one is easier said than DONE. But you will be so grateful once you master this step. It will truly transform many aspects of your life!I find that being in control of my emotions makes me happier daily.
RIGHT NOW I want you to say this to yourself. “I am NOT a victim of my circumstances.” In other words, you are not just on this earth to deal with whatever is thrown at you.
REPEAT after ME…I am the CREATOR of my reality.
Once you realize that YOU are in control of it all you will have so much more PEACE I promise.
So exactly HOW do you do it?
- Don’t react right away! Give yourself time to cool off
- Find a healthy outlet like exercise
- View things from different points of view
- Practice Gratitude

In the end, it is up to YOU! Whatever you have achieved up to this point is in direct correlation to your mindset, and what you EXPECT in your life!
